The Caboolture Sports Club (CSC Group) have given a cash donation to St Columban’s College (StC), Caboolture students, to support them in building an aeroplane.
CSC Group Sport and Community Manager, Tony Clarke said they had not seen a proposal for support to build a plane before.
“We’d never seen a project like this before,” Mr Clarke said in the video above.
“Our donations committee said, ‘Let’s have a look at this in close detail.’
“We thought that that was pretty special.
“So that’s how we got behind it.
“We’ve provided a cash donation to them which will assist.”
CSC Group is also encouraging other local businesses to get behind the unique initiative that is set to give youth from the Caboolture region an edge when it comes to skills in aviation.
“The other thing we like about it too, is that it means that we are hoping that other businesses around Caboolture/Morayfield can get involved with this as well,” Mr Clarke explained.
“We are hoping that other businesses around Caboolture/Morayfield jump on board as well to make this project fly.”
CSC Group provides thousands of dollars every year to local events, schools, charities and community groups through their Community Chest Fund.
“In fact, I’m pleased to announce that the CSC group gave out $2.1 million to the community last financial year, and that’s a record for us,” Mr Clarke stated.
“So, we’re really excited about giving back to the community, and this is just one of many wonderful projects that has allowed us to do that.”
StC students are building a real flying Van’s RV-12iS aircraft.
This plane will be fully certified and operational, as it takes to the skies – and businesses can see this happen with their logo on it.
